Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2016

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, City of Toronto's 4,382 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $516,332,548.49 in 2015.

Topping the list for the City of Toronto was City Manager Joseph Pennachetti, who brought home $385,183.32 in 2015.

Following Joseph Pennachetti was Deputy City Manager John W. Livey, with annual earnings of $303,463.21. Medical Officer Of Health David Mckeown made $296,221.11, Associate Medical Officer of Health Michael Finkelstein made $278,194.68, and Deputy City Manager & Chief Financial Officer Roberto Rossini round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $272,797.92 for the City of Toronto 2016 Sunshine List.
